LONDON GROVE TOWNSHIP, PA – April 19, 2016 – Last Sunday afternoon the 64th Brandywine Scouts of the Baden-Powell Service Association (BPSA) installed a Little Free Library at Goddard Park in London Grove Township.

During the winter months, the Otter scouts built the sturdy, 2-shelf library box out of donated lumber. On Sunday, with the help of leaders, parents, and siblings, the scouts installed the library on a post in the playground. The library is stocked with children’s books donated by the scouts.

The motto of Little Free Libraries is “Take a book, return a book.” The books are always free, and book donations are always welcome. The library belongs to the community. The 64th Brandywine will act as stewards, and will monitor the library regularly for any needed maintenance and add additional books if necessary.

“We hope the library will be a fun addition to one of our favorite local parks,” said Victoria Grimme, Group Scoutmaster of the 64th Brandywine.

Community members are encouraged to browse the library and borrow books anytime when visiting the park.

The Goddard Park Little Free Library is an officially registered library of the Little Free Library(r) organization. Little Free Library(r) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building communities through the sharing of books. Learn more at http://LittleFreeLibrary.org

The BPSA was formed in the U.S. in 2006 as a co-ed, inclusive, secular and traditional-style Scouting association. The association continues the principles and practices of Scouting laid down by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907. The BPSA is not affiliated with either the Boy Scouts of America or the Girls Scouts of the USA; the BPSA is a member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS).
